Executive Team

 Erin Gurr – President

I am in my fourth year of the Business Administration honours co-op program concentrating in Marketing. In my three years at Brock I have seen our DECA chapter grow from a small brood to a large, very talented family. My previous role with DECA U Brock was the Co-Vice-President of Training, where I was able to see first hand how hard our delegates worked to achieved tremendous success at both the provincial and international levels. My experience with DECA U Brock has been filled with crazy experiences and lasting memories, it is a place to grow academically, professionally as well as personally. The network you build through competing and actively participating will last a lifetime and open up opportunities only an internationally recognized organization can.

I encourage everyone who is interested in competing, and especially building on their leadership and presentation skills to join DECA U Brock. The opportunities for your achievements are endless, and it is never too early or too late to get involved. We have had first-time members who are in every year, and every discipline of study, and they have all taken away something positive from the organization.

Feel free to contact myself to learn more about DECA U Brock and how you can get involved!

Mihika Chag – Executive Vice-President

Hi my name is Mihika Chag. I am in my fourth year at Brock studying Business Administration. I have been a part of DECA U Brock since first year. I am currently the Executive Vice-President of DECA U Brock. I absolutely enjoy being a part of DECA as I love interacting with others and through DECA you network with many students from your own university as well as other universities across Ontario. So much so that I met my current roommate through DECA! Along with studying business, I love to listen to music and travel.

Mithulan Perinpanayagam – Vice-President of Sponsorship

I am a second year in the Honours Bachelor of Accounting Co-op program. I am currently the VP of Sponsorship and Training. I was first a member of DECA Ontario achieving top 20 in 2010 ICDC. Last year I joined DECA U and it was a great experience. DECA helped polish my presentation skills and helped me think on my feet. I was able to make a ton of new friends and be part of a great community. The experience is a great asset to have when going out into the workplace and definitely recommend everyone to join.

Jeremy Wolfe – Vice-President of Training

Hi my name is Jeremy Wolfe. I’m in my third year of Business Administration. Back when I was a first year I decided that I wanted to join one club and my decision was to become a part of DECA U. It turned out to be a great choice as DECA became my passion. DECA events are always a highlight to my year, whether it’s provincials in Toronto or ICDC in the United States. This year I am one of the Vice Presidents of Training and I am expecting it to be the best year yet.

Jaminy Ulaganathan – Vice President of Training

My name is Jaminy Ulaganathan and I am a 3rd year student in the BBA program at Brock University. I have been a member of DECA since high school, and joined the club at Brock in 2009 during my 1st year here.  I am currently one of the Vice Presidents of Training. I really enjoy being a part of DECA as it teaches students exceptional presentation skills while also allowing them to develop analytical skills. It is an excellent opportunity to network yourself within the Brock community, as well as the business community. It is a great way to gain experience in a multitude of different business situations and I hope to continue my involvement with DECA for the duration of my time at Brock University.

Michelle Whiteman – Vice-President of Conferences & Competitions

Hi! My name is Michelle Whiteman. I am in fourth year Accounting Co-op. This will be my third year doing DECA. I joined in second year because a friend told me it was fun, he was right! DECA is a lot of fun and it also prepares you for many real life experiences that you will face in the business world! DECA has broken me out of my shell; it has enabled me to speak to complete stranger about anything! I hope to continue to get the same benefits out of DECA again this year and to also help everyone else in DECA to receive as much as I have from it.

Nick Chrzan – Advisor

I am in my final year of the Business Administration Co-op program with a double concentration in Marketing and Human Resources Management. My experience with the DECA organization dates back to high school where I was an executive member and attended several conferences and leadership symposiums. I joined Brock’s DECA U chapter in my 2nd year and have held the position of VP Training for two years, and last year as President. In 2010-2011, Brock had their largest membership in four years and won the most amount of medals at the Provincial and International competition!

Our chapter growth has been tremendous in the four years since our inception, growing from about a dozen to over 75 last year! I have gained a multitude of experiences being involved with this organization the past three years, and I hope to advise this year’s team to help them create an even better year. I will always remember the amazing experiences I had at Provincials and Internationals in California, Kentucky, and Florida, and I would encourage any student to get involved to make their university experience that much better!
